Your Tax Dollars Hard at Work
Congressmen are allowed to send mail to their constituents for free. In the old days, that meant that they sent, you know like "letters" to the people they represent. The constituents could then read the congressman's update in order to learn about what he's doing in Washington.
The days of the simple letter are gone. Congressmen have learned that they can now send fancy campaign pieces with your tax dollars, and as elections approach, those pieces get more glossy and more frequent. The picture at the left is just one panel of a campaign brochure that Congressman Harry Mitchell sent to his district. He spent $75,000 of federal money on the piece.
Here's a copy of the entire brochure.
This does not make up for Mitchell voting against funding the troops.
This is a shameless attempt to look like he supports the troops. The truth is that he does not support the troops or the war effort. He is just throwing public money around and buying votes.

Umm, Travis? If you are talking about the vote on this week's Iraq supplemental bill, Mitchell voted *for* the funding part of the legislation.
Just thought you'd want to know...

Craig,
Umm..no, I was referring to the vote where Harry voted for the funding and then when it looked like it was going to pass, he slinked up changed his vote at the last minute. Just thought you should know...

Mitchell is a crummy liar who says one thing and does another.
If this is how he taught kids in Tempe it is no wonder how screwed up the world is.

Loading a bill to fund the troops with enough pork to make Byrd blush in order to strong arm the R's is hardly leadership. More like prostitution and the R's said no way, give us a clean funding bill and we will proudly and enthusiastically vote yes, but the war will not be adulterated by the Dems.
Those that walk hand in hand with Pelosi are just as guilty.
