I'm heading back to my hometown of Point Pleasant Beach, NJ tomorrow to see some family and old friends with whom I go back a couple decades. Should be a great day! I'll be updating from my Twitter account, so be sure to follow me.
Now that we are settling into our new digs after the big move, Friday night was the perfect time to hit my first east coast concerts in years. My brother and I headed down to Philly to eat some classic cheese steaks and see Built to Spill. The band is currently touring the US, and if last night was any indication, the tour is going very well. The band poured it on thick from the first moment of the show. They were tight and energetic as they tore through a 17-song set with 1 encore. They played a few songs from their most recent release, You in Reverse, as well as some older, crowd-favorites. The audience rocked right along with the band, pouring on a bit more heat towards the end. Built to Spill is an intriguing, and hard-driving band, incorporating a Dinosaur Jr-meets-Yes approach to modern American rock. Check them out if you get the chance, or just enjoy the video for "Car" below.
